Sweden’s Catella comments fund outflows

Sweden headquartered Catella has commented on outflows from its mutual funds range, which have been linked to significant asset management personnel changes that took place over the summer months this year.

As reported by InvestmentEurope earlier ( http://www.investmenteurope.net/regions/swedendenmarkfinlandnorway/zenit-hedge-fund-managers-join-catella/ , http://www.investmenteurope.net/regions/swedendenmarkfinlandnorway/catella-makes-manager-changes/http://www.investmenteurope.net/regions/swedendenmarkfinlandnorway/catella-confirms-team-departure/ )

The changes were sparked by the decision of a number of managers to depart to a new asset management business.

According to the firm’s president and CEO Knut Pedersen: “Mutual funds at Catella have experienced outflows from a few products to date during the third quarter, related to previously announced changes in portfolio managers. At the same time systematic funds have experienced a very strong inflow during the corresponding period, which more than compensates for the outflow from mutual funds, from both volume and profitability perspectives.”

“The fund market is transparent, which means that information about changes in the assets under management of the different providers reaches the stock market quickly. Given our ambition to act transparently towards the stock market, we believe the stock market should be informed at this point about the effects of the flows in the Swedish fund operations.”

Added Erik Kjellgren, head of the Swedish fund operations: “We have announced five new recruitments within mutual funds over the summer. We now have a strong management team in place and we currently envisage no need for further recruitment. The combined team is expert in both absolute-return and relative-return products, with a strong analytical background from several sectors and expertise in sustainability. We are therefore highly confident in the management of our funds for both the short term and the long term.”
