Swedish cross-country star picked to promote funds
Jenny Hansson, one of Sweden’s top cross-country skiers, has taken up a part-time role at the Swedish Investment Fund Association to help push awareness of the industry platform for making regular inspections of long term savings – Fondkollen.
Hansson is well known in the country for winning the gruelling 90km long Vasaloppet earlier in 2011, just a month after suffering a significant back injury.
Her role at the Association will be to focus on raising awareness among long term savers of the importance of regular investment reviews using the Fondkollen tool, which is supported by the local funds industry as a source of information and user-friendly tools requried to make informed decisions about fund investments.
Increasing retail investor knowledge about mutual funds is a cornerstone of the Association’s work. This is seen as important in a country where an estimated 80% of adult men and women are saving via funds, and two-thirds of children have fund savings started by parents or grandparents, according to Association fugures.
