Tundra hosts sustainability event in Pakistan

Tundra Fonder, the Swedish emerging and frontier markets boutique, has hosted a sustainability conference in Karachi together with the Karachi Stock Exchange.

The Tundra Sustainable Forum targeted delegates from the country’s biggest listed companies, and included speakers from Karachi Electric, Bulleh Shah Packaging and Lucky Cement. The Forum follows the launch of the manager’s Sustainable Frontier Fund in August 2015.

That fund invests in markets including Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Pakistan, and is supported by an Asian based team recruited earlier in 2015, and whose role is to focus on sustainability issues in frontier markets.

Jon Scheiber, CEO at Tundra Fonder, said: “As a leader in frontier markets, it is natural for us to also take the first step in sustainable investments in frontier markets. Important components of this are training and interaction with local companies.”

Johan Elmquist, a portfolio manager at Tundra and one of the Forum speakers added: “Sustainability goes mainstream. Frontier markets will be no exception.”
