FINMA appoints Philippe Egger to its board of directors

The Swiss Financial Supervisory Authority FINMA has appointed Philippe Egger to its board of directors as of 1 Mary 2014.

Egger, a qualified insurance expert, has previously acted as CEO for AXA Winterhur and was a member of AXA’s executive committee.

Prior to that, he has worked for Genfer Versicherungen, Freiburger Versicherungen and Baloise Insurance Ltd, where he was an executive boar member between 1997 and 2003.

He retired in late 2013 and has currently no board of director mandates at companies in the financial industry. The Federal Council has appointed Philippe Egger as of 1 May 2014 and for the current term of office until 2015.

Commenting on his appointment, Anne Héritier Lachat, Chair of FINMA Board of Directors highlights: “Philippe Egger is a seasoned insurance expert with long-standing experience in the insurance market at the national and international level. His professional, strategic and operational know-how will enhance our board.”
