Pictet hires new quantitative research chief

Geneva-headquartered group Pictet Wealth Management has appointed Alessandro Nilo as head of Quantitative Research, InvestmentEurope understands.

Having started in his new role in July, Nilo joins from Euromobiliare Asset Management SGR in Milan where he served as lead global macro and quantitative investment strategist within the wealth management unit during more than five years.

There his duties involved the generation, development and implementation of macro views; the production of research and investment strategy documents; the building and the management of cross asset portfolios as well as the development of quantitative and systematic strategies.

Prior to that, Nilo held various roles at Credito Emiliano such as senior cross asset/quant strategist and equity and bond derivatives trader. He has also worked as Abaxbank as portfolio manager.

Last November, former Pictet’s chief quantitative strategist Edgar van Tuyll had left the company with his team (Wanfeng Yan, Guillaume van Baalen, Mingxi Wang and Eyal Hanouna) for PAG, an alternative quant boutique established by an Asian investment group.
