Pioneer picks Swiss country head

Pioneer Investments has appointed Rainer Lenzin as Head of Switzerland, charged with building the firm’s wholesale and institutional businesses.

Based in Zurich, he will directly report to Fabien Madar, Head of Western and Northern Europe.

Madar said Switzerland is an important strategic market for Pioneer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Italian financial services group, UniCredit. “We recognise the importance of local knowledge and relationships in delivering a focused and empowered asset management business,” he said.

Rainer joins from BNY Mellon Asset Management, Zurich, where he was responsible for the management of wholesale clients in Switzerland. Prior to that, he was director of institutional equity sales to Switzerland, Netherlands and Germany at Lehman Brothers in Zurich.

He has also worked at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Zurich/New York and Dresdner Bank (Switzerland), where he was in private banking.

He graduated from the University of Berne with a master’s degree in business and economics and is a CFA charterholder.
