Reshuffle at de Rothschild: Group CEO steps down

Swiss group Edmond de Rothschild has announced that Christophe de Backer will step down from his position as group CEO as of 31 January, he will be replaced by Ariane de Rothschild (pictured), who has been appointed chairwoman of the executive committee.

Benjamin de Rothschild, chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild Group,commented:

“I would like to thank Christophe de Backer for his contribution to the transformation of the Edmond de Rothschild Group over the last three years, which involved taking difficult decisions, while allowing the Group to maintain strong results. The fulfilment of the assignment entrusted to Christophe de Backer has seen the realisation of significant progress.

Ariane de Rothschild has been part of the group’s board of directors since 2008, she has previously worked as broker at Société Générale and for the US insurance group AIG. She is married to Benjamin de Rothschild, who is chairman of Edmond de Rothschild Group.

Ariane de Rothschild’s appointment has been unanimously supported by the group’s board of directors.
