Sarasin opens euro version of equity income fund
Sarasin & Partners LLP, the global thematic investment fund specialist, has launched a euro-denominated version of its International Equity Income fund
Run by CIO and managing partner Guy Monson and Mark Whitehead, the same team behind the UK Oeic version, the fund invests globally in dividend paying companies.
Launched last month, it is expected to have a concentrated portfolio of around 55 stocks and will adopt the thematic investment style characteristic of Sarasin’s portfolios.
Themes in the £205m UK-listed version include corporate restructuring (e.g. Credit Suisse), pricing power (BHP Billiton) and the strong get stronger (Royal Dutch Shell A).
At a country level, the breakdown is 39.8% North America, 34.3% Europe ex UK, 9.6% Pacific ex Japan, 8% UK, 5% emerging markets and 3.3% Japan.
Sarasin has provided seed funding for the Luxembourg-listed Sicav which has assets of €13.6m and a minimum investment of €1,000.
Since its inception in May 2006, the Oeic has returned 23.6%, compared to 17% for the MSCI World Index.
Sarasin & Partners manages investments for private clients, charities and a wide range of institutional investors.
It falls under the umbrella of the Bank Sarasin Group, a leading private bank in Switzerland.
