Syz AM names new head of Manager Research and Alternative Investments

Geneva based Syz Asset Management has appointed Cédric Vuignier as Head of Manager Research & Alternative Investments, and Bertrand Dord, as senior analyst.

Vuignier will take up his position on 1 June 2016, replacing Michaël Malquarti, who the firm said is taking his career in a new direction.

He joins from AppleTree Asset Management where he was head of Alternative Investments.

Vuignier has over 14 years of experience in alternative investments research and selection, of which 12 years were with HSBC (2000-2012) in New York and Geneva.

At HSBC, he led an alternative portfolio management team for 8 years (2004-2012), where he was responsible for 400 mandates.

Managing a team of seven, Vuignier will be lead portfolio manager of the funds of funds managed to date by Michaël Malquarti.

Joining as senior analyst, Dord was a senior hedge fund analyst at Lyxor Asset Management for the past 7 years (2009-2016), focusing on event driven strategies, hedge fund analysis and selection and the launch of new funds.

Formerly, he held various positions at Société Générale in London and Paris including interest and foreign exchange hedging and CLOs (2006-2009).

Syz group has €36bn in assets under management.
