UBS names new Swiss business head

Swiss financial group UBS has announced the appointment of Martin Blessing  as president Personal & Corporate Banking and president UBS Switzerland in the group executive board of the company.

He will take up his new duties on 1 September 2016 and will succeed Lukas Gaehwiler, who is to assume new role as chairman of the region Switzerland.

Blessing was CEO of Commerzbank AG until the end of April this year.

He spent 15 years on the board of managing directors of Commerzbank, half of which as its chairman.

Formerly, Blessing held roles at Dresdner Bank and McKinsey.

As chairman of the region Switzerland, Gaehwiler will be focusing on clients and other selected mandates.
