Vice-chair of FINMA board steps down

Monica Mächler will step down as vice-chair of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) board of directors at the end of September 2012 to pursue “new challenges”.

A decision on the appointment of a replacement has yet to be made.

Mächler was named vice-chair of the FINMA board of directors in 2009 following directorship of the Federal Office of Private Insurance since 2007.

Mächler said: “I have always been fully dedicated to shaping, along with my colleagues, the numerous projects conducted to establish FINMA and at the international level.

“After being active in supervision for more than five years, the time has now come for me to take on new challenges.”
