Aberdeen UK Property announces promotions

Aberdeen Asset Management’s property division has announced the promotion of Simon Moscow to become head of Asset Management for the UK and Stephen Walker to deputy head of Asset Management for the UK.

This follows the departure of Giles Easter, the current head of Asset Management, who plans to pursue interests elsewhere in the industry.

In their new roles, Moscow and Walker will lead  the team in developing the firm’s UK property business, cementing Aberdeen’s position as one of the largest British property asset managers. Moscow will oversee the team’s asset allocations for the firm’s UK property business. Walker will support Moscow in his new position while continuing in his role heading up the Edinburgh team.

Simon Moscow and Stephen Walker have worked for Aberdeen since 2008 and will continue to bring to bear their considerable experience at the firm in their new roles. In his previous role as Head of Retail Asset Management in the UK, Simon has been responsible for a Specialist Retail Parks vehicle and has also overseen the asset performance of retail assets on behalf of a number of AAM clients.

He has over 15 years’ experience in the UK retail market and has worked in an investment agency, asset and fund management. Prior to joining Aberdeen, Simon was an Investment Director at PRUPIM and was responsible for an out of town retail portfolio.

Stephen Walker is currently head of Edinburgh Asset Management for the UK property team. He has wide-ranging investment and strategic asset management experience gained in both private practice and client side positions, including roles at Ryden, Lloyds TSB Bank and a secondment to the Royal Mail.

Tonny Nielsen, head of Asset Management and Transactions, Property, commented: “Our UK property business is one the largest in our peer group so it’s essential that we have the right people leading it. I am grateful to Giles for his work over the past few years and wish him well for the future. Simon and Stephen bring nearly 30 years of experience to their roles and I am confident they will continue to grow the business in the years to come. It is a mark of the firm’s ability to foster the best talent that we have been able to recruit these positions from within the business.”
