AIC website search results reveal income focus

The latest quarterly ranking of most viewed investment trusts on the member website of the UK Association of Investment Companies shows that over half, 11 out of 20, of the most viewed companies have an income focus.

Also ranking highly are investment companies with a global focus. Some 40% of the 20 most viewed companies are in the AIC’s Global sector, with another two in its Global Equity Income sector. Less surprisingly, given its UK focus, the Association has found that a quarter of the most viewed companies on its website are in its UK Equity Income sector.

Among the other key quarterly changes noted are the presence of companies that were not in the list during the previous quarter. These include: BlackRock Income Strategies, Law Debenture Corporation, Henderson Far East Income, Henderson Smaller Companies, Independent Investment Trust, Brunner and Edinburgh Worldwide.

Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director at the AIC, said: “In 2015 the AIC had the most website traffic ever in a second quarter, up 16% on last year, demonstrating that investors are keen to find out more about investment companies. Whilst the retail focussed sectors such as Global and UK Equity Income always tend to be popular, they are more dominant now.”

“This year, Emerging Markets investment companies have not featured in the top 20 most viewed companies, whereas they were prominent in the first half of last year.  Asian focussed companies are also less prominent, but one constant remains – income continues to be a key theme for investors.”
