AQR Capital Management opens in London
US-based AQR Capital Management, an alternative investment management firm with $54.5bn under management, has opened a London office.
From its base in Greenwich, Connecticut, AQR offers institutional investors a systematic approach to asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk control. It aims to capture alternative risk premia. Its funds range from traditional benchmark-oriented long-only strategies to absolute return alternative strategies.
David Kabiller, co-founding partner and head of client strategies at AQR, said a London base would allow closer communications with the firm’s growing client base in Europe and globally.
“We have a well-respected team in place, and will continue to leverage our extensive expertise in collaborating with sophisticated institutional investors to continue to innovate and bring distinct investment ideas and concepts to clients in search of better ways to diversify their portfolios,” Kabiller said.
The firm was established in 1998, and has other offices in Chicago and Sydney. Antti Ilmanen, managing director, Portfolio Solutions and Lasse Pedersen, managing director, Research and Portfolio Management, are already based in London.
They will be joined by Christopher Palazzolo, managing director, client strategies, and Rick Montgomerie and Charlie Vaughan, both vice presidents, re-insurance.
