Argonaut founder looks to European expansion

With an eye to European assets, Argonaut Capital is boosting its European sales capabilities through the appointment of Keith Rumbelow as head of European Sales, and Keith Speck as European sales manager.

Both previously were engaged in UK sales for the manager – as head of UK sales and UK sales manager respectively – but with a number of the manager’s portfolios focused on European equity assets co-founder and CIO Barry Norris sees an opportunity to bring proven performance in what are often core assets to Continental European investors themselves.

“The new distribution platform will accelerate our development of new business in Europe. Expansion into Europe is a natural progression for Argonaut, as there is a natural bias for European equities on the continent,” Norris (pictured) said.

The sales team changes will be matched on the portfolio management side by the appointment of analysts Archie Tulloch from Mazars LLP and Oisin O’Leary from Maris Capital to work with Norris and his lead portfolio manager colleagues Olly Russ and Greg Bennett.

Their appointment is cited by Norris as a factors that will contribute to “scaleability” of the business.

Argonaut has reported that its AUM rose 46% since the beginning of 2013, across its long only, income and absolute return European equity products.

In its home market, the UK, Rumbelow’s previous role will be taken up by Ben Hutton, who will be supported by George Adam as UK sales manager. The UK and European distribution teams will be supported by Andrew Leitch as senior investor relations manager, and James Lowe as investor relations manager.
