Aviva Investors appoints new CEO
Euan Munro has been appointed CEO of Aviva Investors, the UK based manager with some £274bn in AUM as of the end of 2012, and which focuses on fixed income, real estate and multi-asset funds.
Munro (pictured) is set to join Aviva Investors by January 2014, reporting to Mark Wilson Aviva’s group CEO.
He joins from Standard Life Investments, where he was global head of Multi-Asset Investing and Fixed Income, as well as being a member of SLI’s board. At SLI he was responsible for management of Standard Life Assurance Company assets, and SLI’s fixed income and multi-asset investment funds.
Euan helped establish and develop the Global Absolute Return Strategy at SLI, which has become a well-known multi-asset fund across a number of markets. He himself said he was joining Aviva Investors because saw opportunity for the manager to “meet the growing demands from the institutional market for income with low volatility.”
Wilson said: “This is an important appointment for Aviva. Euan’s track record in fixed income and multi-asset management, and his experience in an insurance environment, made him the outstanding candidate to lead Aviva Investors.”
“There is significant scope to improve the profitability of Aviva Investors, a core part of the group. Euan will play a pivotal role helping Aviva Investors capitalise on its expertise managing Aviva’s own funds, become a stronger third party manager and increase its contribution to the group.”
