Barings Asset Management has appointed Christopher Mahon (pictured) as director of asset allocation research in its multi asset team, replacing Toby Nangle, who moved to Threadneedle to head up their multi-asset division in January.
Mahon moves from Momentum Global Investment Management, where he was head of investment strategy and lead portfolio manager for the flagship multi asset fund.
He starts his new role next month. He will be based in London, reporting to Percival Stanion, head of global multi asset group and chairman, strategic policy group.
His new duties will consist of providing strategic advice on asset allocation and participating the the firm’s global macro research and asset allocation committee.
Barings has been adding to its multi asset team this year. In February it appointed Alison Huang from TT International Investment Management as investment manager. Last summer, it also expanded its multi asset fund range, adding an emerging markets offering.
The Barings multi asset team was formed 10 years ago and now consists of 12 members. Assets under management exceed £7bn, with £5bn in the flagship institutional portfolio.
