Behavioural economics professor joins Advisory Board to APFI

Victor Ricciardi, finance professor at Goucher College in Baltimore, has joined the Association of Professional Fund Investors’ Advisory Board.

He teaches courses in financial planning, investments, corporate finance, behavioural finance, and the psychology of money.

Along with Kent Baker he has co-edited “Investor Behaviour: The Psychology of Financial Planning and Investing”, published in February 2014 as part of the Wiley Finance Series. The book “Financial Behavior – Players, Services, Products, and Markets” was co-edited with Kent Baker and Greg Filbeck and published in June 2017 by Oxford University Press.

Ricciardi received a BBA in Accounting and Management from Hofstra University and an MBA in Finance and Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) at the graduate level in Economics from St. John’s University. He also holds two Graduate Certificates in Personal Family Financial Planning and Financial Therapy from Kansas State University.

He serves on the Association’s Advisory Board together with other experts drawn from across the globe who individually, and collectively, bring to the table a significant depth of expertise, knowledge, and experience from different and varied, fund selection and investment management-related backgrounds.

Jon “JB” Beckett, APFI director and Advisory Board secretary, said: “Victor is well known in academic, speaking and consulting circles, as a thought-leader of behavioural economics. Specifically, his past work on investor behaviour is well regarded and his investment management insights in general very much respected. Professional fund investors are becoming more aware of the behavioural biases in fund management and their own biases. Consequently, we believe Victor is a great addition to our team and we are honoured to have him on our Advisory Board.
