BNY Mellon Investment Management has announced its plan to launch the Newton Multi-Asset Income fund on 4th February 2015.

The fund will be co-managed by Paul Flood, manager of the Newton Multi-Asset Diversified Return fund and Nick Clay, manager of the BNY Mellon Global Equity Higher Income fund and will aim to provide monthly income with the potential for capital growth over the longer term by investing in a broad diversified multi-asset portfolio.

This new fund is a natural evolution which brings together two core competencies that have been at the heart of Newton’s investment capabilities since its foundation; multi-asset and income investing. As pioneers of multi-asset investing, Newton has managed multi-asset funds since 1978 and has been managing income-focused funds for over 19 years.

As at September 2014 it managed £20.9bn (€27.3bn) in multi-asset strategies and £12.2bn (€16bn) in income strategies from a total £51.3bn (€67bn) in assets under management.

The Newton Multi-Asset Income fund seeks to harness Newton’s expertise in income, multi-asset and active investing to find opportunities across asset classes and capital structures, with a focus on sustainable income and the potential for capital growth.

Fergus McCarthy, co-Head of UK Intermediary Distribution, BNY Mellon Investment Management, commented: “Given the recent changes to the UK pension landscape, we are seeing significant and growing client demand for multi-asset investment solutions that can provide a sustainable income whilst also providing the potential for capital growth over the long term to provide for future generations.”

The Newton Multi-Asset Income fund will complement Newton’s existing suite of multi-asset vehicles which were recently renamed and modified to ensure the range remains compelling in today’s dynamic marketplace and well equipped to address investors’ requirements. The Newton multi-asset fund range includes the Newton Multi-Asset Balanced Fund, the Newton Multi-Asset Growth Fund and the Newton Multi-Asset Diversified Return fund.
