Cevian Capital appoints Paul Myners its UK chairman
Paul Myners, the former chairman of Gartmore, is to become partner in Cevian Capital and chairman of its UK operations.
Cevian currently has some €3.5bn invested in listed companies, with a focus on the Nordics, German speaking markets and the UK.
Myner’s appointment is intended to take advantage of his knowledge of UK listed companies, both from his previous experience as a board director and chairman of several large UK companies, but also through his experiences working as a regulator and as a secretary in the government of then prime minister Gordon Brown.
Harlan Zimmerman, senior partner of Cevian said: “Paul will contribute in several ways, but in particular his broad and deep experience within UK boardrooms will be a significant asset in Cevian’s work to identify and realise value potential.”
Myners worked at Gartmore between 1987 – 2001, has also held board positions with FTSE 100 companies such as Land Securities, been a director at the Bank of England, and participated in the restructuring of the UK banking sector through his position as Financial Services secretary in 2008-2010.
