Diam International adds two to EMEA team

Diam International, the UK arm of Asian asset manager Diam, has announced the appointments of Hidetoshi Yanagihara and Eiichi Watatani as its new CEO and CIO respectively.

Both positions were previously held by Hideto Yamamoto.

Yanagihara was hitherto working as leader of the Corporate Planning Group of Diam in Tokyo. Prior to this he has worked as deputy general manager of the Mizuho Corporate Bank New York Americas Treasury Department from 2006 to 2011.

He also held roles in the Head Office Derivatives and Fixed Income division. Yanagihara began his career in 1986 at the Industrial Bank of Japan.

Watatani joined Diam in 2002. His previous role was executive vice-president of Diam USA. He led there the company’s new business initiatives and simultaneously was manager for US credit portfolios.

Prior to this, Watatani was president and CEO of Diam USA and formerly worked as a US portfolio manager. He started his career in 1996 managing Japanese fixed income portfolios at DLIBJ Asset Management and Dai-ichi Life.

Diam International manages $141bn (€125.7bn)  as at end December 2014.
