Old Mutual Global Investors has announced the appointment of Diamond Lee as portfolio manager in its Asian Equities team, with particular responsibility for selecting Chinese stocks.

Lee, who will report to Josh Crabb, head of Asian Equities, joins from Ignis Asset Management, where he was responsible for Chinese stock selection across Asia Pacific and emerging markets portfolios and managed the Ignis Pacific Growth and Ignis China funds. He is expected to move to Hong Kong once regulatory approvals have been received.

OMGI announced the appointment of Crabb and the Asian Equities team in September 2014, as part of a strategic plan to build itself into a top 5 UK market player, including expanding into selected international markets. The Asian Equities team is intended to lead development of products and strategies to facilitate OMGI’s growth into the Asia Pacific area.

Currently the team manages the Old Mutual Pacific Equity and Old Mutual Asia Equity sub funds of the Dublin domiciled OMGI Series plc umbrella funds.
