Peter Olds will join the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton on 9 February as counsel at the firm’s London office – the firm specialises in fund formation.

Formerly, he held a legal director role at Actis, a private equity firm investing in Africa, Asia and Latin America, which he joined in 2009. He counselled several groups to establish funds, including JP Morgan Chase and Credit Suisse.

Olds worked previously as a senior associate at Freehills in Sydney before moving to Clifford Chance’s Private Funds Group, where he advised fund sponsors such as Actis, EQT and Barclays on the formation of private equity, infrastructure and real estate funds.

London based Cleary Gottlieb partner Simon Jay said: “He brings a fantastic wealth of knowledge and significant experience in fund establishment and operation. Peter’s appointment complements our existing strengths and reflects the growth of our practice in London.”
