Hermes hires director for equity ownership services business

Hermes Investment Management has appointed Emma Hunt as director, strategic client management and business development for Hermes Equity Ownership Services (Hermes EOS).

Based in London, she will take up her duties in September 2015 and will report into Colin Melvin, CEO of Hermes EOS.

Hunt joins from Towers Watson where she worked as global co-head of Sustainable & Responsible Investment.

Her role there included advisory to asset owners on the design and implementation of beliefs and strategy, spanning manager selection, portfolio monitoring, capital allocation and stewardship.

Formerly, she worked at Mercer, where she spent five years establishing Mercer’s responsible investment business.

Hunt  said: “Having worked with asset owners around the world for the last 18 years, I have seen the importance of good stewardship rise up their agenda. We are now at a point where good stewardship is critical to an investment institution’s identity.”

Hermes EOS currently advises £115.7bn (€157bn) in assets.

In 2014, the Hermes EOS team engaged with 446 companies on a range of 1,197 environmental, social and ethical, governance, strategy and risk issues.
