Investec Wealth&Investment makes senior research hire
Investec Wealth & Investment has announced the appointment of John Wyn-Evans as head of Investment Strategy, with immediate effect.
Wyn-Evans joins IW&I’s research team replacing John Haynes, head of Research, who took on responsibility for providing advice on investment strategy to the firm’s IFA clients following the departure earlier this year of Jim Wood-Smith.
The appointment places full time resource behind a vital area of the research team’s output and allows John Haynes to focus exclusively on the team’s processes and the services it provides to investment managers and across the firm’s wider client base, Investec said.
John Wyn-Evans joins IW&I having held senior positions at some of the City’s largest broking houses, where clients included the UK’s largest financial institutions.
He began his career nearly thirty years ago at Fielding Newson-Smith before moving to Smith New Court (subsequently Merrill Lynch), where he worked in London and New York as a director of UK and European equity sales.
In 1999 John joined Lehman Brothers as executive director, UK and European equity sales before moving to Nomura in 2008 in the same position. Most recently he has worked as a consultant to Troy Asset Management, developing thematic research on economics, strategy and asset allocation.
Commenting on the appointment, John Haynes, head of Research said:
“This is an important role as it brings our third-party clients into the heart of the investment process. John is a hugely experienced investment professional who brings an additional layer of insight from his career on the sell-side and we are delighted he has agreed to join us.”
