Investment boutique boutique J O Hambro Capital Management (JOHCM) has recruited Luis Faňanas as senior analyst ahead of the launch of its European Concentrated Value (ECV) strategy later this month.

The  ECV strategy, which will launch on 15 March, is aimed at complementing JOHCM’s existing European Select Values (ESV) strategy managed by Robrecht Wouters.

Faňanas will work with lead fund manager Wouters on both the ESV and ECV strategies. He was previously employed by T Rowe Price, where he was a senior member of its Global Small-Mid Cap team and focused on European stocks.

The ECV strategy launches in response to client demand for a concentrated, large-cap version of the ESV strategy, it will follow the same investment philosophy and process as ESV, employing a benchmark-unconstrained, bottom-up, valuation-orientated investment style.

The ECV portfolio will typically hold around 25 high conviction positions. Similar to ESV, it will have sizeable sector biases and usually avoid commodity-like industries and capital-intensive sectors such as financials.
