Junior Oils Trust launches institutional share class
The Junior Oils Trust is launching an institutional share class to provide institutional investors and wealth managers with access to the fund.
The share class, has a minimum investment of £50,000 and an annual management fee of 1.25%. Thefund is advised by Angelos Damaskos, CEO of Sector Investment Managers.
Launched in 2004, the fund invests in a global portfolio of small to medium sized oil companies. The trust has returned 124% since launch to 29 February 2012, against 40% for the benchmark FTSE 350 Oil & Gas index.
Damaskos said he believes the price of oil will continued to be supported by demand from emerging markets, thereby ensuring profits from well managed oil production companies.
“We are seeing a return of confidence and risk appetite among institutional investors and are optimistic for 2012 both in terms of investment outlook and attracting investor inflows. Small and medium sized companies experienced a severe sell off in 2011 and there are many quality companies in the oil sector which we believe will benefit from a re-rating in coming months. Increasing acquisition activity will also be contributing to portfolio returns as cash-rich large-production companies scramble to capitalise on the market anomaly.”
