LGIM to celebrate 25 years of index investing

UK based Legal & General Investments (LGI) is set to emphasise its role as an index investor over the past quarter of a century, through a campaign taking place in the second half of 2014.

The provider’s European Index Trust was launched on 13 June 1989.

An investment of £1,000 at its launch would now be worth £5,503 with dividends reinvested, representing an annualised growth rate of 7.77% (‘R’ Class, Net of charges), L&G says, citing Lipper figures.

LGI offers 20 index funds encompassing equities, fixed income and alternative asset classes., managed by some 50 staff at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM).

LGIM overall manages £284bn of index funds – as at 31 March 2014.
