Towers Watson, the investment consultant, has made Luba Nikulina its new global head of manager research following the appointment of Craig Baker to become global CIO.

Nikulina has worked at Towers Watson for nine years in the UK and US, recently as global head of private markets research based in London.

Baker, new CIO, said the appointment of Nikulina would also see a restructuring of the manager research team. This will now consist of three global research streams.

Jim MacLachlan will head the equity research stream. This includes long/short equity hedge funds and private equity funds as well as traditional long only equity, bulk and smart beta equity mandates.

Chris Redmond will lead the credit research stream. This includes long/short fixed income hedge funds and illiquid credit in addition to traditional long only credit products and bulk and smart beta credit mandates.

Damien Loveday, previously head of the hedge fund stream, will lead a newly created “Diversifying Strategies” stream. This includesinvestment return drivers represented by strategies such as macro hedge funds, reinsurance, systematic hedge fund strategies, multi-strategy/multi-asset funds, real estate, infrastructure, agriculture, and timber.

David Hoile continues to head the asset research team, and Tim Hodgson the thinking ahead group.
