Sanlam UK names distribution chief

London-headquartered Sanlam UK has appointed John Pyburn as head of UK Distribution.

In his new position, he will develop Sanlam UK’s distribution strategy and capability, supporting in particular the delivery of its proposition to advisors from Sanlam Partners (the firm’s partnership programme launched earlier this year).

Pyburn tallies more than 25 years’ experience in financial services. He joins from Just Retirement, where he served as director of intermediary sales for more than eight years. Prior to this, he held a wide range of senior positions at different companies such as State Street Global Advisors, Canada Life or Abbey for Intermediaries (now Santander).

Joining the company on 13 September, Pyburn will work closely with Sanlam’s head of Nationals and Networks Kay Hylton.

Jonathan Polin, Sanlam UK CEO, said: “John is a highly talented professional with a deep understanding of the adviser market and an exceptional track record in financial services. Our distribution capability will be a significant driver of commercial success over the coming years and John has a long career building effective, growth-driven sales functions.

“It’s a very exciting time to join Sanlam UK as the business looks to develop its proposition and brand in the adviser market. I understand the unique and often complex challenges advisers face and look forward to working with them to develop a proposition which can help them achieve their business goals while delivering value to their client base,” Pyburn commented.

Sanlam has over £12bn (€13.2bn) of assets under management or advisory.
