State Street recruits ETF head from BoISS

State Street has boosted its exchange traded products servicing business in Ireland by hiring the man responsible for creating Ireland’s first ETF product in 2000.

Robert Rushe leaves Bank of Ireland Securities Services (BoISS) where he developed its ETF model over 10 years, to head up State Street’s exchange traded product offering.

There, he will oversee exchange traded funds (ETFs), exchange traded notes and exchange traded certificates.

Along with his ETF expertise, Rushe’s background includes fixed income investments, Shariah funds, emerging markets funds, synthetic products and multicurrency dealing.

State Street hopes to use the coup to help expand the appeal of its funds servicing business in Ireland to international investors.

Earlier this year, State Street signalled its intention to move further into Ireland with the acquisition of Bank of Ireland Asset Management (BIAM) by its investment management outfit, State Street Global Advisers (SSgA).

The firm also announced plans to expand its ETF business in Europe at the beginning of this year.
