Nordea AM head to join Danish pension fund

Christian Hyldahl, current head of Nordea Asset Management has been appointed as new CEO of ATP, one of Danemark’s largest pension funds.

He will take up his new responsibilities as from 1 January 2017.

Christian Hyldahl succeeds Carsten Stendevad, who is returning to the US for family reasons, ATP said.

ATP’s chairman of the board Jørgen Søndergaard commented : “Christian Hyldahl is a skilled and respected finance professional and has in depth knowledge of the financial sector. He is characterised as a leader of high integrity and great judgement. Christian Hyldahl is a great replacement for Carsten Stendevad, who has done a tremendous job for ATP”.

”Our priority has been to recruit a new CEO who can head ATP in time where but every institutional investors are facing the challenge of creating returns on investments. Deep knowledge of the international financial markets, strong management skills has also been of our important criteria. Finally Christian Hyldahl’s personal skills has been important to us – all in order to appoint a CEO who has profound respect and understanding for the role ATP plays in the Danish society.

Hyldahl added: “As the pensions provider for all of Denmark and administrator of social benefits for almost all Danes ATP plays an important role in the Danish society. The responsibility of ATP has huge impact on lot of people’s lives. I look forward to become part of ATP and look very much forward to contribute to the work ahead.”

ATP tallies 5 million members.
