Tiburon Partners, the specialist Asian fund management firm has been awarded a £20m (€22.7m) mandate by Skandia Investment Group’s Skandia Global Best Ideas fund.
Mark Fleming, lead manager and partner at Tiburon, takes on the mandate, replacing Peter Sartori at Treasury Asia.
SIG tracked Fleming’s performance running a “paper” mandate over the past year. During that period he outperformed the MSCI AC Asia Pacific ex Japan index and peers. SIG’s own evaluation tool also suggested the trades made were suitable to managing a 10 stock mandate.
The Global Best Ideas portfolio is looking for managers with high convictions, and the ability to deliver on those convictions.
The portfolio currently splits its mandates among the following managers:
Richard Plackett – BlackRock
Jacob de Tusch-Lec – Artemis
Dan Nickols – Old Mutual
Audrey Ryan – AEGON
Richard Buxton – Schroders
Tom Marsico – Marsico
Europe excluding UK
Crispin Odey – Odey
Jonathan Asante – First State
Nathan Gibbs – Schroders
Asia Pacific excluding Japan
Mark Fleming – Tiburon Partners
