Asset manager Jupiter has announced the promotion of James Zimmerman as manager of the Jupiter UK Smaller Companies Fund with immediate effect.
Zimmerman joined Jupiter in 2011 as equities analyst within the UK Equities Team, and returned to the Company in October last year, following a year as a Global Generalist Analyst at Rockefeller & Co. in New York.
He takes over from Richard Curling, who has managed the Fund since March 2006. Curling will continue to manage the Jupiter Fund of Investment Trusts and institutional assets, and co-manage the Jupiter Primadona Growth Trust PLC and Jupiter Monthly Income Fund.
Stephen Pearson, head of Investments at Jupiter, said: “Following the appointment of Steve Davies as sole manager of the Jupiter UK Growth Fund earlier this year, James’s promotion is a further illustration of our strategy to nurture internal talent by developing fund managers from within our existing investment team. James has worked closely with Richard on the Jupiter UK Smaller Companies portfolio since his return, and we see his new appointment as a natural step which recognises his talent for investment, and allows Richard to focus on the other portfolios under his management.”
