SYZ Fund Research strengthens its team
SYZ & CO has hired Reto Gehring and Alexandre Potelle for SYZ Fund Research, the company’s fund analysis and “long only” manager selection service.
They join the team of Katia Coudray Cornu who was appointed head of SYZ Fund Research in June 2011. Gehring has been appointed head of research and Potelle as senior analyst.
Gehring worked for ten years at UBP in Geneva in the multi-manager and manager selection team established by Katia Coudray Cornu in 2001, where he was head of research since 2009. He has 14 years’ experience in finance, 12 of which in fund and manager selection. Before joining UBP, Reto Gehring had set up the fund selection team at Banque Cantonale Vaudoise.
Potelle worked for UBP’s multi-manager and manager selection team. since 2006. He was primarily responsible for selecting US managers and managers in the commodities, global equities and high yield sectors.
Vanguard AM expands London office
Vanguard Asset Management has expanded its European headquarters in London with two senior appointments to its investment teams.
Joy Yang joins as head of the equity team. Joy has more than 20 years’ experience and has worked at Scudder, BGI, AXA Rosenberg, and Scottish Widows.
Nick Pierce joins as head of fixed income operations. Formerly of BGI and Gartmore, he has a diverse background including experience in index portfolio management, ETFs, and developing client solutions.
New global funds body appoints Giles Swan
ICI Global, the recently launched global trade body for the fund management industry, has hired Giles Swan as director of Global funds policy. He will start in January 2012.
Swan comes to ICI Global from the UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA), where he was a technical specialist on the collective investment schemes policy team. He will report to Dan Waters, managing director.
ICI Global focuses exclusively on the perspective of globally active funds. It seeks to advance the common interests and promote public understanding of global investment funds, their managers, and investors.
Crédit Agricole appoints new head of private banking
Crédit Agricole has appointed Olivier Toussaint as chief executive of its private banking subsidiary, Banque de Gestion Privée Indosuez. He replaces Hervé Catala who becomes chairman of the company’s management board.
Toussaint joined Banque Indosuez in 1984. In1999 became chief executive of Crédit Agricole Indosuez in Milan and has held several chief executive roles at Crédit Agricole.
Catala joined Banque Indosuez in 1980. In 1999 he joined the private banking business at Crédit Agricole Indosuez as director and chief executive of Crédit Foncier de Monaco. He has been chief executive of Banque de Gestion Privée Indosuez since 2007.
