AXA Investment Managers has appointed Johann Ropers as head of Fund Investments within the alternative solutions team in July, InvestmentEurope understands.
Ropers is based in London, reporting to Alexandre Martin-Min, chief investment officer structured finance and co-head of Securitised and Structured Assets at AXA IM.
The firm has recently streamlined its organisation and has seen a number of departures including that of John Porter, former AXA IM’s global head of Fixed Income & Structured Finance who has been replaced by Hans Stoter.
AXA IM’s alternative credit platform encompasses loans, private debt, collateralised loan obligations, insurance linked securities, asset backed securities, fund of hedge funds and impact investing.
Ropers joins from London-based alternative boutique JMH Asset Management where he spent over six years as chief investment officer. He was previously a European equity portfolio manager at Philippe Investment Management before the European equity team joined Soditic to establish Soditic Asset Management.
Ropers started his career at DWS Group in 2000 as an equity research analyst then as an assistant portfolio manager focused on convertible bond arbitrage.
