Brussels-headquartered Candriam Investors Group has unveiled the Candriam Academy, a free-to-access accredited training platform for sustainable and responsible investing (SRI).
The company said the new platform is aimed at raising awareness, promoting education and improving knowledge of financial intermediaries on SRI.
Candriam Academy provides different modules, which need to be scored with a minimum of 8/10 (each of them) in order to complete the course and obtain the certificate.
The platform, open and free to the public, is available in English and Italian and will also have a French version.
A survey by Candriam in 2016, found that 60% of distributors were convinced of the added value of SRI, and up to 70% foresaw an increase in such funds over the next 10 years. However, SRI’s distribution has remained limited because of a lack of information, which according the company made necessary the launch of an open platform like Candriam Academy.
Candriam Investors Group’s CEO Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, said: “Economic agents have an important role to play in ensuring the development of a sustainable and responsible economy. We believe in the importance of promoting sustainable investing and the Academy will allow us to raise further awareness and improve best practice among the financial community.”
Candriam’s global head of responsible investments and research Wim Van Hyfte said: “At Candriam we have the deep conviction that sustainable and responsible investing is not only a good thing for the world, but it is also the driving component of a successful long term investment strategy. With that in mind we developed Candriam Academy to help train the next generation of responsible investors.”
