Gian Giacomo Attolico Trivulzio and Paolo Langé have also been appointed to the bank’s board of directors, replacing Giuseppe Vita and Cesare Castelbarco Albani.

Braggiotti takes over from Vita, who is set to become chairman at UniCredit, Italy’s largest bank by assets. His nomination will have to be approved during the annual shareholders’ meeting on May 11.

Meanwhile, Banca Leonardo has requested the authorization to open a new office in Stockholm, expected to be finalised by July 2012.

“The new office will cover the Nordic markets providing advisory services in M&A, debt and equity areas. It will initially employ ten bankers and it will join the Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Rome and Zurich offices,” the bank said in a statement.

The investment bank has also signed an agreement to acquire COFIB Compagnia Fiduciaria di Beni Spa, an independent company based in Rome and headed by Alessandro Maria Rinaldi.

The deal, which is subject to approval by the Bank of Italy, aims to build the bank’s private banking presence in Rome.
