State Street Corporation announced the appointment of Melissa Ballenger as chief financial officer (CFO) for Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA). Ballenger will work from London and report to Eric Aboaf, State Street’s global CFO, as well as to Jeff Conway, EMEA’s chief executive officer at State Street.
Ballenger has extensive experience in the financial sector. Most recently she was chief business control officer and CFO at Santander Bank in the USA. Prior to that, she was with TD Bank, MasterCard Worldwide, Washington Mutual Bank, and Freddie Mac.
Ballenger will be responsible for finance, treasury, real estate and procurement in the EMEA region. In addition, she will also be responsible to monitor all financial management and control functions for its business units and legal entities. Ballenger will also make a significant contribution to the multi-year “Beacon” digitisation program from State Street.
Eric Aboaf commented: “EMEA is one of the main growth regions for State Street due to the positive GDP growth and the economic outlook in the region. Melissa Ballenger’s extensive experience will further strengthen and expand our presence and customer relationships.”
Jeff Conway added: “We are delighted to welcome Melissa Ballenger. She will be a great asset for our company, in particular with regard to the further implementation of the “Beacon” program, which will enable us to provide our customers with innovative solutions, a better launch time and many other holistic and integrated systems and platforms.”
Mark Keating, who was working as CFO for EMEA, will remain with State Street and ensure a smooth transfer of his responsibilities to Ballenger. He will then return to Boston.
