BNY Mellon has registered its Asian Income Fund in Spain. The fund derives from a strategy launched by BNY Mellon’s boutique Newton Investment Management back in 2005.
It is part of the BNY Mellon Global Funds range and it will give Spanish investors access to a concentrated portfolio of Asian equities. The geographical breakdown excludes Japan, but it includes firms with headquarters in Australia and New Zealand.
Newton Investment Management will be managing the fund with Bhavin Shah, portfolio manager, Multi-Asset team at Newton, as lead fund manager.
Sasha Evers, BNY Mellon’s country head in Spain, said: “As Asian companies keep maturing, we expect increasing dividends from them. For this reason, the registration of this new fund in Spain is a good opportunities for local investors who are looking at the Asian region.”
