Fidelity appoints new equities heads
Fidelity Worldwide Investment has appointed Paras Anand as head of pan-European equities and Richard Lewis as head of global equities.
These two new positions, which report to Dominic Rossi, chief investment officer equities, will strengthen the company’s 60-strong European based equity portfolio management team.
Anand will join the company in the new year to manage the UK and continental European equity portfolio management teams based in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan. He is presently head of European equities at F&C, managing a team of portfolio managers, analysts and other investment professionals.
Prior to this, he headed Deutsche Asset Management’s European equities team in New York and before that worked at HSBC Alternative Investments where he managed a UK market neutral hedge fund. He started his career at Invesco.
Lewis will join at the start of November to manage the global emerging market and global equity portfolio management teams. He spent nearly a decade at New Star Asset Management until its take-over by Henderson. He was co-Head of New Star Institutional Managers, responsible for a team of 15, which at its peak managed $12bn primarily in international equities for North American clients. Richard has 25 years’ industry experience as an analyst and equity portfolio manager.
Prior to New Star, Lewis was CIO equities at institutional money manager WorldInvest, which was acquired by New Star. He began his career with Capel-Cure Myers in the UK as a European equity analyst and portfolio manager.
Troika Dialog appoints co-head of investment banking
Troika Dialog has appointed Todd Berman as managing director, co-head of investment banking.
Berman will work alongside Igor Sagiryan to build the company’s advisory business for Russian and international institutions, helping them to access capital markets and achieve their strategic objectives. He will take up his new role in early October 2011.
He has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry. He was recently global co-head of media and telecoms and EMEA head of media, telecoms & technology, at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, responsible for client coverage and transaction execution. He has previously served as head of emerging europe, Middle East and Africa at Citigroup as well as group head of communications investment banking in EMEA at Lehman Brothers.
Berman’s appointment is the latest of several recent senior hires at Troika Dialog including Chris Weafer as chief strategist, Olga Klimov as global head of equity sales and James Corrigan and Anton Malkov as managing directors in investment banking.
Iveagh strengthens investment team
Iveagh Private Investment House, the Guinness family office and asset management boutique, has appointed William Beverley to its investment team.
He will have overall responsibility for macroeconomic and quantitative research including proprietary models and technology.
Beverley’s background and experience in quantitative strategies and macroeconomic research will strengthen the company’s investment capability, a statement said. He will report to Chris Wyllie, chief investment officer.
He has 12 years’ experience in investment banks. At Morgan Stanley Investment Management he developed portfolio analytics and asset allocation models for wealth management, and at Barclays Capital he was senior quantitative strategist in a team managing $2.5bn in multi-asset class quantitative strategies and UCITS funds.
