Schroders has launched Schroder GAIA Contour Tech Equity fund in partnership with US equity specialist Contour Asset Management. The underlying strategy has been managed by Contour since October 2010.
With the introduction of Schroder GAIA Contour Tech Equity, GAIA platform offers its first long/short equity fund focused on technology.
The strategy aims to capitalise on the huge spread of returns in the technology sector. Since inception, fund management has generated attractive annual returns with a relatively low net risk position of -25% to +25%. In addition, it has a low correlation to the broad stock markets.
The strategy is managed by David Meyer, founder of Contour Asset Management, who has nearly 20 years of technology investment experience.
Eric Bertrand, director of the GAIA platform, said: “We see high demand for long/short equity strategies with low net exposure from investors seeking diversification through liquid alternative investments. The fund offers investors a unique opportunity to position themselves in the technology sector.”
The Schroder GAIA and Schroder GAIA II platforms bring together Schroders recognised asset management expertise and extensive distribution capabilities with leading hedge fund managers. With the introduction of the new fund, Schroders will offer a total of nine funds on two GAIA platforms.
