Edmond de Rothschild enters Chilean market with AM deal

Financial group Edmond de Rothschild has struck a strategic deal with major Chilean asset management firm Banchile Administradora General de Fondos (Banchile AGF).
According to the group’s statement, the agreement will enable Banchile AGF’s clients to access the broad investment solutions range of Edmond de Rothschild AM.
Edmond de Rothschild AM will provide its expertise in European and US equities as well as in corporate debt and asset allocation to the Chilean manager.
Founded over 35 years ago in Santiago, Banchile AGF is part of Banchile Inversiones that has assets under management of $9.5bn. Both companies are owned by Banco de Chile.
It is not the first Swiss financial groups to have gained presence recently in the Chilean market. In August 2016, Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has entered into a strategic agreement with Chilean boutique LarrainVial Asset Management.
UBP’s asset management team is sub‐advising on a European equity mutual fund registered in Chile and managed by LarrainVial AM while the Chilean manager’s expertise on Latin American equity and fixed income is leveraged by UBP to support its global emerging markets capabilities.
