Dutch asset manager NN Investment Partners has announced the inclusion of green bonds in the NN (L) Patrimonial Balanced European Sustainable fund that has been relaunched on 15 December 2016.
The firm said this decision follows interest raised from retail and institutional investors for ways to make a positive contribution to the environment.
NN IP has added a sub-strategy dedicated to green bonds (mainly issued by SSAs (sub-sovereigns and supra-nationals)), which is related to the NN (L) Euro Green Bond fund launched in March 2016. .
Siu-Kee Chan, senior portfolio manager, multi-asset, at NN IP, commented: “By adding this strategy investors also make a direct and measurable impact on the environment without any additional costs as these bonds are similarly priced as non-green bonds, issued by the same issuer. We also intend to provide our clients with impact reporting. This will add to transparency and will show for example how much annual greenhouse gas emissions will be avoided per euro invested.”
NN (L) Patrimonial Balanced European Sustainable is a sub-fund of Luxembourg-domiciled Sicav NN (L) Patrimonial.
Several share classes of the sub-fund are currently registered in Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece Spain, France, Sweden, Slovakia and Chile.
NN IP had around €195bn of assets under management as of end of December 2016.
