Carmen Altenkirch has joined London-headquartered Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of financial group Aviva, as emerging market sovereign analyst.
In this newly-created role, she will report to Liam Spillane, head of Emerging Market Debt.
Altenkirch, who taillies over 10 years’ experience in EM countries analysis, will mainly focus on frontier markets, with a broader remit across the investable emerging debt universe. She will work alongside hard-currency fund managers Aaron Grehan and Michael McGill.
Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Altenkirch worked at AXA Investment Managers and Fitch Ratings.
Aviva’s EM debt chief Spillane said: “We are pleased to welcome Carmen to the team. She brings a wealth of experience and credibility to our fundamentals-based sovereign analysis process, which we believe will improve investment outcomes for our clients. This hire adds to our capabilities in frontier markets, where we see attractive opportunities, and demonstrates the importance of the EMD asset class to our fixed income business.”
Aviva Investors had £351bn (€397.5bn) of assets under management as of 30 June 2017.
