The 300 Club, an independent group made up of investment professionals from across the globe, has announced Pascal Blanqué, global chief investment officer at Amundi, as its newest member.

Blanqué has held the role at Amundi, as well as being head of Institutional Investors and Third Party Distributors and a member of the management company’s executive committee since February 2005.

He was appointed chairman of the board of CRP AM in January 2007. He was deputy director of the Economic Research Department at Paribas before joining Amundi, and was a strategist in asset allocation at Paribas Asset Management in London for four years.

The 300 Club was set up to provide responses from the investment community to what it believes will be a significantly changed investment landscape over the coming two decades.

Lars Dijkstra, chairman of the 300 Club, said: “Pascal is passionate about the functioning of financial markets, monetary issues and the philosophical foundations of economics. In his latest book, Essays in Positive Investment Management, he describes very eloquently how modern portfolio theory promises dreams but delivers nightmares. His expertise as an economist, a financial historian and investor will be of great value to the 300 Club.”

Pascal Blanqué responded: “There has never been greater need for sound investment advice to bridge the gap between dissatisfied savers and investment companies. Growth in the investment industry should not be at the expense of the wider economy and society. By challenging the norms we can tackle some of the negative impacts of poor governance on society.”
