Investec Asset Management has extended its offering on the Italian market with the launch of the Investec Global Quality Equity Income fund, now available for distribution both through the institutional and retail channel.
The fund invests primarily in the shares of high-quality companies around the world and aims to provide long-term and sustainable generation of capital. The fund strategy — delivering above-average high dividend yields with a lower fluctuation band compared with the market — is characterized by its cautious positioning compared to traditional strategies, according to the asset manager, which AUM reached $117 bn as of 30 September.
The investment vehicle is managed by Clyde Rossouw, Blake Hutchins, Abrie Pretorius of the Investec AM’s Quality team, an internal unit of 24 professionals managing funds worth $9.9bn.
Following a bottom-up research process, the team identifies high-quality stocks that can provide above-average yields and typically related to business with strong business models, good governance strategies, trusted brands and high free cashflows.
“Markets are still dominated by uncertainty, so investors need to increase the value of their portfolios reducing potential losses. The [fund] provides cautious exposure to the equity sector and offers at the same time interesting yield opportunities within a portfolio of high-quality companies stocks,” said Gianluca Maione (pictured), country head Italy at Investec.
