Invesco has strengthened its EMEA ETF portfolio management team with two new hires as it steps up efforts to accelerate its fixed income offering.

The London office of the firm has appointed Wayne Parker, formerly of FinEx London, and Deepak Bharti, formerly of Deutsche Asset Management, to its fixed income team.

Invesco said the appointments were to help meet “strong investor demand” for fixed income ETFs, which occurs in part due to rising interest rates.

Bharti joins from Deutsche Asset Management where he was a senior equity ETF portfolio manager for four years and helped build the DB x-trackers platform. Prior to this, he was a portfolio manager at Barclays for six years.

Bharti will help build the Invesco ETF platform and manage the fixed income product range for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will also work on the team’s US ETF equity platform.

Parker has 15 years experience and joins from FinEx London, where he was an ETF portfolio manager and trader.

Parker has also worked at Fourwinds Capital Management and at Jefferies Bache as a commodities portfolio manager. At Invesco, he will manage the fixed income and multi-asset range of Ucits products.

Both will report to Raphael Stern, regional head of ETF portfolio management, who said there was “record demand” for fixed income ETF products.

Invesco has launched a number of fixed income products in the EMEA market over the past six months as demand for low-cost and innovative ETF products continues to rise.
