Rash Patel has joined RWC’s institutional team, the company has announced.
Patel joins from MFS International where he spent eight years looking after relationships with institutional investors in the UK. Previously Patel worked at Barclays Global Investors for seven years following several years at UBS, as well as Mercer and Fidelity.
Commenting on the announcement, RWC’s James Tollemache said: “Rash will be working alongside Joanna Lancaster who is responsible for our relationships with consultants. He has had a great deal of experience with pension funds and institutions looking to allocate to equities and RWC has developed a number of strong investment capabilities in these areas.
Rash Patel added: “Having been heavily involved in the development of a successful equity business in my previous role it was very important to me that I joined a company that offered a similar calibre and potential. At nearly $10bn RWC has established a strong base across a number of very interesting investment teams, and there is significant room for growth. It was particularly appealing to me that I was able to work with two global equity teams that approach the asset class from different perspectives. Louise Keeling manages the RWC Global Horizon fund having joined RWC from Marathon last year and has a bottom-up approach focussing on the capital cycle.
“Ian Lance and the Income team at RWC offer a unique approach to call overlay strategies running a global fund with a low beta and a target yield of over 6%. As with all the teams at RWC the strategies are unconstrained in their approach and therefore offer clarity of purpose to their clients. In today’s world there is little room for pseudo beta strategies and I can see a great opportunity for RWC’s institutional business to make significant strides in years to come.”
