BNP Paribas Investment Partners has appointed Laurent Gueunier as head of Alternative Debt Management in order to boost the firm’s high yield fixed income range of products.
Based in Paris, he will report to Dominick DeAlto, chief investment officer, institutional fixed income at BNPP IP.
Gueunier joins from AXA IM where he was head of Structured Finance. Formerly, he held roles at JP Morgan and Societe Generale.
The alternative debt management team has €1.56bn of assets under management as at 30 September 2015. Funds it manages are invested in European securitisations, mini-bonds and multi-strategy credit. An additional €1.56bn is being manged in loan strategies.
DeAlto has stressed opportunities in the alternative space due to the changing regulatory environment and the disintermediation of the direct lending market.
BNPP IP’s assets under management have amounted to €509bn as at 30 September 2015.
